Need you now... (ATTN: AJ)

[Maci]

Maci grinned, looking at him, watching him watching her.."Nuh-uh..", she giggled. That boy was something else, and she couldn't get enough of him. He was always saying or doing something to make her smile. She knew that the two of them running off wouldn't be a good idea, especially with his dreams for the band, and her always being groomed for college and a career. But if something happened and the two needed to run, she wouldn't think twice.

She wrapped her arms around his waist as well, running her fingers on it, lightly scratching his back as she looked back into his eyes. "You know..that's a great idea. We need to get out of this place a little while..", she admitted. Although she didn't mind being anywhere with him, there was always somewhere that was more fun than her house. "AJ...I love you so much", she replied, it being one of the only things she could think of at the moment. It was so true though, she did love him with all of her heart. She kissed him back, loving the embrace and smiled as they broke away, she wiggled her nose against his and took his hand too.

AJ grinned as Maci scratched his back, still fondling her hair a bit. "Yeah I suppose we do." He let out a happy sigh. He didn't mind atall being around Maci's house; or his for that matter. It were just his parents that were annoying him alot, so he was rather at Maci's than at his own place anyway. Though he did feel bad for his mother sometimes, 'cause he knew his dad wasn't the greatest company with him working the evenings and nights and sleeping half of the day. He smiled again as Maci spoke up. "I love you too." She always had a way to make him smile, wheter he felt like crap or felt good, and it didn't matter how, she always did.

He took her hand and moved back into the house to get his shoes and their skateboards and to get ready to go to the skatepark downtown. Once he got his gear and two bottles of water he waited outside for Maci. With his hands in his pockets he thought back to the phonecall he'd received of his sister earlier. He figured he just had to sit thisone out and wait.

It wasn't a busy day at the skatepark. They were probably early anyway, all the people were probably having lunch or something else on their weekend day. AJ didn't mind being quiet as he walked up to the paved ground of the skatepark, holding Maci's hand and a smile on his face. He was truly happy when he was with her.

Maci trotted upstairs to brush her hair back into a ponytail, which was something she always did when they took a trip to the skatepark. She slipped on a pair of shorts and a tank before slipping on a pair of shoes and making her way back down the stairs. She grinned when she saw AJ waiting on her outside with the boards, standing there with his hands in his pockets, he was so cute..

"Oh wow, there is like...nobody here. Niceeee.", she said, really excited they pretty much had the place to themselves. The rails, ramps and half-pipes were pretty much deserted. She squeezed his hand lightly as she looked over at him, wondering what he was thinking about. "So baby...are you excited about Jess coming into town? How long is she staying?", she asked, scanning over the park mindlessly.

AJ almost cringed at the sound of hearing Jess' name. Though he couldn't blame Maci for being curious, there was just something that was irking him about his elder sister coming over. He let out a small sigh; squeezing her hand back lightly, like she had before. He sat down at one of the benches, and dropped his skateboard to the ground. "I don't know really." He started, fondling with his own fingers a bit and ran a hand through his ruffled hair. "On one side it's nice she's coming over, you know." "But on the other side, I think she might be hiding something." "I know it's bad to think that way about her, I just can't help it. It's how she's always been."

A small silence fell as AJ let his eyes travel around the almost deserted skatepark. He knew he could be honest with Maci about everything, that's one of the many qualities he loved about her, she was such a good listener. "I think she said she was coming over for a week or something, said she had off from work." "I didn't even know she worked." He snorted and shook his head; it must have been months he had last heard from her. She was the kind of person that when you didn't hear from her was good news, and when you did hear from her it was bad news. So hearing from her with seaming good news was sort of new to AJ. "I guess I'll just have to sit thisone out." He looked over at Maci and smiled weakly. "Now c'mon and do what we came here for." He grinned slyly and picked up his skateboard, obviously not wanting to talk about his sister anymore and just set his mind to zero and have some fun instead.

As AJ sat on one of the benches, Maci allowed herself to prop herself up on the bench, resting herself in AJs lap, against his leg. She watched his as he spoke, he looked a little worried, perhaps even questioning his sisters intentions on coming home. She fondeled the back of his head hair as he spoke, she nodded. "It's not bad to think that if that's just the way she is, AJ..you can't help but be suspicious, I don't guess.", she said, hoping that she'd help relax him if only a little about the visit, although, neither of them knew what was coming, and noone could predict it.

"A week? And she is coming this week? Oh gosh...what about your rehersal?", she asked, feeling a little worried herself now. She knew that if he missed his rehersal, the guys wouldn't ever let him hear the end of it. She looked at the ground, mind racing with questions whenever he looked at her and smiled. She looked up, catching his glance and smiled back at him, not letting him see that she too, was now worried, though not about his sister. She stood up from sitting in his lap and picked up her board that she had rested against the bench, taking the hint he no longer cared to talk about Jess anymore. One thing plagued her though, and it couldn't wait to be brought up later. "AJ..", she said, looking back at him as she made her way to the rails, "Does she know about me and you?", she asked.

ic: AJ set down his skateboard on the ground again with a slight sigh. His eyes travelled to the ground as he thought, waving his hand in the air. "Not.. exactly." He looked up at her, raising his brows and grinned slyly. "We don't actually talk so much, like I said; we've been a bit, I don't know.." He sighed again, looking to the ground. "We just haven't been keeping in touch alot, that's why I was so surprised she called." "Especially, me." He looked back at Maci's blue eyes, them being full of curiousity but he knew she was just caring. "I mean, I thought she blamed me for everything. We haven't exactly made up after."

He grinned weakly and took Maci's hand, caressing it with his thumb. "Don't worry though; she probably feels bad for not letting us know she's alive for so long." "Must've been occupied." He added, as his eyes looked away again. He let go of Maci's hand and kissed her cheek briefly. "C'mon let's go." He smiled at her and then went off towards the rails on his skateboard, letting his mind fly for the moment, not thinking of the week that was before him.

Maci watched him, his expressions were too adorable to be ignored, and she couldn't help but chuckle as he grinned at her. "Oh..well, I can understand that..", she said, and meaning it whole heartedly. She closed her eyes as he leaned in to kiss her cheek, she couldn't help but take in his scent as he did so, the smell of his cologne mixed with the washing powders Lillian used for their laundry. It was comforting, if only for a second, her eyes opened and she sighed slightly herself, though it was happy, not worried or distressed.

She dropped her board in front of her, then pressing her foot against it and kicking off with the other, letting his hand go as she headed closer to the rails, "I'm gunna beatcha!", she laughed, turning to look at him as she giggled.

AJ laughed as Maci raced after him. She certainly had improved alot since the first time they were here together. He couldn't help but grin at that thought as skated down the ramp, onto the rails, loving that feeling of the wind flowing through his hair. She really had stolen his heart that day, and he loved she did. He looked over his shoulder at Maci who just flipped the board under her feet, doing and Ollie and grinned at her. He came to an halt, stepping up the edge of his board and flipping it up, catching it in one hand and waited for her to catch up.

"Nice going there babe! When did you learn that?" He teased, poking her side briefly, and pulling her closer to him. "Pffft I've had it for the day." He added while heaving a sigh and straightening his back. They'd been at the park for several hours now as AJ turned to shoot a glance at his watch. Time really did fly when they were together. "Whoa this late already." He groaned and swung an arm around his girl and kissed her cheek, while walking back to the bench where there stuff lay. He sat down with a sigh, leaning forward and propping his arms on the skateboard which stood with its side on the ground. He rested his head on his arms as he gazed on to the few kids that were still skating out there. Sometimes he wished he could stay like this forever, young and without worries to a certain extend. He'd really hate to get a job like his dad one day. To be away from home more than being with the one he loved. He looked over to Maci, blinking a few times and smiling. "Ya gotta promise me one thing." He looked into her eyes with those big, blue, begging eyes like he always did, but serious none the less. "Promise me we don't end up like my parents." It might have seem like a question out of the blue but AJ was certain Maci knew what he meant. They were soulmates after all.

She couldn't help but giggle at him as he poked his fun at where she'd learned to do that ollie. He had been, and would always be, the one and only "teacher" to anything having to do with skateboarding. He was so talented, Maci just tried to keep up with him, "Hmmm, This really hot lion guy taught me everything I know about skateboarding..", she laughed, pointing a finger on her chin as if she were thinking about what she said, her eye rolling to the sky. She hugged him as he pulled her closer, she loved that feeling, and she too, wished that it could just be this way, this simple, forever.

She accepted the kiss on her cheek, he was so affectionate & loving, it really made Mace feel special. She sat down beside him, she could tell he was lost in thought as she pulled an arm around him, gently rubbing his side. Maci was just about to ask him what was on his mind until he turned to her, those translucent blue eyes meeting her own matching pair, she smiled back as he spoke, "Anything.", she said before he finished. Maci felt her heart melt as AJ continued with his request, she leaned forward, closing her eyes and kissing his cheek and then back, opening them again with a smile. "Don't you worry about that..we won't. I love you more than life itsself, AJ.", she clutched his hand in her own, a slight smile upon her face.

ic: AJ grinned at her reply, bowing his head for a moment then looking back to her as she clutches his hand tighter and smiled at him. "Thanks." He squeezed her hand in reply, smiling warmly, seemingly lost in thought more than anything. "C'mon." He mumbled as he ligtly tugged her hand and stood up, rubbing his upper arm and then picking up his skateboard agan. "Let's go back and be lazy the rest of the day?" He remembered the time it was, smiling lightly. "Or what's left of it anyway."

Once back at Maci's home they simply sat in the garden infront of the house, enjoying the nice weather and eachother's company. AJ liked being there, in that particular spot that was Maci's parent's property. His house didn't have much of what you could call a garden, just a small driveway with steps towards the door that led to the kitchen. The pavement is what his parent's liked to call their garden. But to make up for the lack of green, Lillian made up with the hanging baskets next to the door with flowers in them.

For what was left of the day, AJ could let his worries float away for the time being, just being with Maci made it all vapourise, it was incredible how she made his worries fly out the door and make him think of nothing except of how much he cared for her and how much he loved her. He could say with certaintly that he'd never fallen so hard for someone and so deeply for someone as he'd ever done, or would.

Maci watched birds hop across the ground, pecking around at the bird seed that squirrels had knocked free from the bird feeder. They were terrible to knock the entire thing from the shepherds hook the feeder hung on, but it hung sturdily as birds perched on it. Her fingers mindlessly played on AJs chest as he lied against her, his head in her lap, Maci couldn't be happier than she was right now. Being with AJ made her that way, happy. It was difficult for her to remember life without him. She looked down at him from the birds she was watching before, her arm propped her body up as her eyes locked on him, she smiled at him. He was so handsome, still unbelievable that he was hers. They were so different, Maci thought, looking back up, this time at the clouds. AJ came from a somewhat broken home, his sister leaving and him with the past he had. Maci had never been anything but pampered and loved- never getting into trouble, but also becoming a little over-sheltered, other than what she learned from Channing.

She broke her thinking and looked back down at AJ, the sky becoming the tell-tell color of orange and purple glow, the sun getting ready to set. It was something she wasn't ready for, the week ahead staring them down. She wondered what Jess would be like, would she like me?, Maci asked herself. She certainly hoped so, she began to stroke AJs hair, smiling down at him again. She wondered what he was thinking, but would leave the question in her head rather than ask.
